Your New Role:
Kempsey Shire Council is seeking a motivated and forward-thinking engineer to join our Water and Sewer team and help shape the future of essential infrastructure across the region. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of critical water and sewer services that support community growth, environmental outcomes, and long-term asset sustainability.

What you’ll be doing:
You’ll bring your expertise to a mix of strategic planning, technical analysis, and project support, including:
- Contributing to long-term water and sewer infrastructure plans and capital works programs.
- Providing expert technical advice on design, servicing, and development matters.
- Supporting hydraulic modelling for water, sewer, and recycled water systems.
- Assisting with the assessment of engineering plans and servicing requirements for development applications and capital works projects.
- Contributing to asset management strategies and infrastructure lifecycle planning.
- Preparing business cases, grant applications, and strategic reports for water and sewer planning initiatives.
- Coordinating consultants and managing planning and investigation projects.
- Ensuring accurate and reliable GIS and asset data systems.

About You:
We’re looking for someone who combines technical expertise with strong communication and problem-solving skills. You’re analytical, proactive, and solutions-focused. You enjoy working across technical and strategic areas, and you’re confident engaging with stakeholders - from developers to government agencies.
Most importantly, you want your work to make a meaningful difference.
You bring:
- Degree in Engineering
- Experience in water and sewer infrastructure planning, design, or investigation
- Strong understanding of engineering standards, WSAA codes, subdivision processes and regulatory framework applying to NSW Local Water Utilities
- Hydraulic modelling capability and data interpretation skills
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, GIS data, and reports
- High-level written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal and negotiation abilities
- A current Class C Driver’s Licence
